Félicie de Fauveau — L’amazone de la sculpture
Upcoming
In 22 days: June 11 → September 15
Félicie de Fauveau (1801-1886) is a figure as emblematic as she is unique. Nostalgic for an era that she had not lived through, a royalist, a catholic, a single woman and a feminist, this sculptress commits her life and her art to defending a political utopia, expressed principally through images of History.

Félix Thiollier Photographe (1842 — 1914)
Past: November 13, 2012 → February 10, 2013
Remaining resolutely on the fringes of the photographic circles of his time, Thiollier turned out to have created an original body of work which varied between picturesque, post-Romantic rural landscapes and a starkly lyrical view of an industrial world largely ignored by the artistic French photographers of the 19th and 20th centuries.

L’impressionnisme et la mode
Past: September 25, 2012 → January 20, 2013
Anxious to account for contemporary life, Impressionism favoured the representation of human figures in their daily surroundings and captured the “modern” man in his routine activities, both in cities and in the countryside.

Victor Baltard (1805 — 1874) — Le Fer et le pinceau
Past: October 16, 2012 → January 13, 2013
An ambivalent character, Baltard was constantly torn between the artistic nature of his work and his thirst for technical innovation. With various artworks (architectural drawings, models, old photographs, paintings, furniture, stained glass, etc.), the exhibition will demonstrate the part both of these preoccupations played in nourishing his creativity.

Misia, reine de Paris
Past: June 12 → September 9, 2012
From the Belle Époque to the Roaring 20’s, Misia Godebska was a legendary figure of the French art scene, at the centre of a group of the champions of a symbolistic and decorative art, and one of the most sought-after models of her time. This multidisciplinary exhibition illustrates the prolific creative activity at the time Misia was the Queen of Paris.

Degas et le nu
Past: March 13 → July 1, 2012
Throughout his career, Degas constantly represented the nude, readily repeating poses he had used several decades previously. Therefore, more than any other genre, the nude demonstrates his stylistic evolution, from his early classical training based on the copy of ancient masters to his late research into movement the radical approach to forms.

Akseli Gallen-Kallela (1865 — 1931)
Past: February 7 → May 6, 2012
Although recognised as one of the most emblematic artists of the Finnish genius at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Akseli Gallen-Kallela has never been the subject of a monographic exhibition in France. Yet he was closely linked with Paris: a pupil of the Académie Julian in the 1880s, he triumphed at the 1900 World Fair with the frescoes of the Finnish Pavillon.

Past: April 5 → July 3, 2011
More than just a strictly linear, monographic retrospective, this exhibition constructs its premise around some questions closely related to the historical process from which Manet cannot be separated. Simplifying his modernity to an iconographic register or bringing it down to a few stylistic elements, comes from a reductive approach.

Une balade d’amour et de mort — Photographie préraphaélite en Grande-Bretagne, 1848-1875
Past: March 8 → May 29, 2011
The historian and art critic, John Ruskin, had a great influence in Great Britain on the development of early photography in the 1850s. The leading Pre-Raphaelite painters wished to change the pictorial conventions and in order to demonstrate the transformations in modern life, invented a radically new idiom.
